President’s Message

I cannot believe that it is July already.  The board has been working hard in the past few months to take a critical and careful look at how we as a board operate and how we can best continue to move our congregation forward in the future.

Part of that process is the new Mission Statement.  We are eager to hear from you about the proposal and whether you like it, hate it, or think we should alter it …  The Mission Statement serves only as a first step, putting forth our guiding principles.  We are also working on determining what goals fulfill these principles and how we can best achieve those goals, and expend our energies, as a group.

We are eager also to work on a longer term plan for the Congregation.  The impetus for such a plan is the need to know where we are going with respect to our physical space and the challenges that the current physical space present to us.  Some of you may remember that we started this process several years ago.  We are hoping that if we have a better idea of who and what we want to be in ten years, we will be able to make appropriate decisions about how we use the land behind the church and how we make the church facilities better for everyone.

If you have any thoughts about the Mission Statement or what we should be considering in terms of longer term goals, please talk to me or another board member.  Your input is vital and valuable.

Until next month,

Nina Webb-Lawton

Thanks for your Faithful Giving…

Summer is just around the corner, and although demands and schedules are more relaxed in this season, the obligations of the church don't take a “vacation.”  We still have to meet our commitments, pay for utilities, etc., and your faithful and consistent giving is so appreciated and necessary to staying on budget.

Remember:  you can always mail in an offering or pledge check, even if your schedule keeps you away from services.  Just mail it to:  NUUC, Attn: JGD, P. O. Box 541, Lewis Center, OH 43035.

Pledging statements for the period through June 30 will go out by the middle of July.  In the meantime, if you have any questions about the status of your giving or other pledging matters, feel free to call the church office at 740-657-8081 and talk to Rev. Ritchie (RevRitchie@aol.com) or Jeri Dill (nuucjdill@aol.com).

Our annual Stewardship Drive happens in the fall of the year; if you would like to make a formal financial commitment to the church prior to that time, contact Stewardship Chair Laura Howe at Howe_L@yahoo.com or visit our website at www.nuuc.org and click on “About Us” and then “Stewardship Materials.”
